In my lifetime, I have had the pleasure of living with four cats. Pepi, my first experience of having a cat, was a delightful little tortoiseshell. Then much later came Dribble, Jasper and Ollie. Sadly, we lost Dribble quite early because he contracted feline leukemia and died quite young. Jasper contracted the same condition, but was lucky to be asymptomatic, but it was a car that hit him and took him away from us. Ollie lived to a good age of 17. He was the most gentle, loving little cat, and even at the age of seventeen years old he still looked like a kitten, and was certainly as agile! He adored lounging around in the sunshine, usually in next door's garden, and he loved a snuggle on my lap and a blast of Reiki, and would not stand any nonsense from our dogs - cats rule!
I have found that the best way to work with animals is through a distance treatments. This sounds very bizarre and whacky but distance treatments work brilliantly and is the way I have chosen to work with all animals. While most cats enjoy contact and fuss, some do not and particularly if it is not their owners trying to touch them. Distance treatments can allow your cat to receive Reiki without causing them anxiety about being touched by a stranger. So importantly, your cat can be comfortable in their own surroundings with cuddles from the person they love the most - you!
Anyone who has a cat knows how important it is for them to have human touch and cuddles .... and pampering! Using Reiki for cats is a lovely way of doing just that, as well as helping with supporting them during times when they are not feeling quite themselves.
It is extremely important that you seek veterinary advice and attention for any sick animal prior to starting any Reiki treatments. Reiki is a complementary therapy that can be used alongside conventional veterinary treatment and medication, but not as a substitute. If your cat is showing signs of illness, your first contact must be with your vet.
