Having a Reiki Treatment

Full Treatments

When I first meet you I will ask you to complete an Intake form that includes a short health and lifestyle questionnaire.  The purpose of this is to collect background information about you.  Because of this, a first appointment will last 10-15 minutes longer.

A full Reiki treatment generally lasts for around 45-60 minutes, sometimes longer depending upon need - I like to make sure that enough energy has been received before I complete a treatment.

When having a full treatment, you will relax lying down on a treatment table, and I will gently place my hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on your body, or I may feel the need to work within your aura, and sometimes a mixture of both.  I will check to make sure that your chakras and meridians are balanced and if they are not, I will balance where needed so that the flow of energy is uninterrupted.

Seated Treatments

Alternatively, you can be seated on a chair if this is preferred, your treatment will be equally as effective, and can be quite useful for those people experiencing back problems so wanting energy to be targeted specifically there, and also if actually getting onto a treatment table is difficult for you.  Seated treatments are generally shorter, lasting around 30-35 minutes, but can sometimes continue for longer, again depending upon need.

Distance Treatments

Reiki can also be sent - sounds completely whacky doesn't it!  One of the symbols that is part of the attunement process at Level 2 allows that Reiki can be sent through time and space, and although this sounds bizarre, it works brilliantly!  I work using a teddy bear as a surrogate, and for the duration of the treatment, this bear then becomes you!

By having a distance treatment you will still have full benefit from the effects of the Reiki.  This can be a very effective way of receiving Reiki if time does not permit coming for a hands on treatment, or if you are away on holiday and want to continue with a treatment plan.

Although not absolutely essential, the best way to have a distance treatment is when you are at rest, so a convenient time can be agreed when you are able to sit or lie and relax for 30-45 minutes while I send Reiki to you.   I will ring and speak to you for a short chat before I begin the treatment, and then again once I have finished so we can discuss the treatment, see how you are feeling and answer any questions that you may have.

What does Reiki feel like?

Relax and Enjoy

Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time; Reiki energy will always do what it is needed to do.  Benefits reported by recipients include feelings of deep relaxation, calm, and a peaceful sense of well-being.  Most people I have worked with have drifted off into a very peaceful sleep, and have woken feeling refreshed.  Used over time, Reiki can help to promote a positive thought pattern and choices, and mood.

Feel the Energy

During a treatment some people feel sensations of heat, cold, tingling or experience seeing blasts of intense colours, whilst others can have an emotional response.  Some people have reported to me that they have visions, and one person told me of having the vision of being in a garden with flowers waving in the breeze but strangely enough I could actually smell their scent!

But I felt nothing....

Some people feel nothing at all, and this is absolutely fine because Reiki energy will always flow to where it is needed, and although no sensation may have been experienced, the recipient will still have received the benefit of this beautiful energy.

You may feel no different at all after having a treatment, but changes that are happening can be very subtle, and even though you feel that nothing has happened, Reiki will be supporting your own self-healing.
